History Llewellyn, REALTORS® is an independent family owned and operated residential real estate brokerage firm with a proud history, a flourishing present, and a promise-filled future. Since its beginning, Llewellyn, REALTORS® has confounded high profile competitors with the professionalism of sales associates, consistent high sales volume, and our enviable customer/client loyalty. Mr. Charles M. Llewellyn, Founder Llewellyn, Inc. began operations on January 2, 1959, and was founded by Charles M. Llewellyn and his wife, Betty Llewellyn. Their first office was located on the fifth floor of the Perpetual Building at 8700 Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring, Maryland. According to Mr. Llewellyn, one reason the business was formed was so "we could put new shoes on our children's feet!" (Everyone knows how Charlie and Victor even today enjoy new shoes!) "Our company began very small, with only two agents--Betty and myself. We were so small that we were unable to join the Multiple Listing Service or the Board of REALTORS® until the Spring of 1961." The first house listed and sold by the company was a property in the Woodmoor area (East Silver Spring/Four Corners). The house sold to a Cadillac salesman for $23,500, which was high for the 1960 market (average home prices back then were $17,000 to $18,000). Charles M. Llewellyn was the President of Llewellyn, Inc. from its beginning until 1985. Llewellyn, REALTORS® current president, Charles P. Llewellyn, joined the firm as a sales associate in 1980. At the end of his first year, "Charlie" was honored for having achieved the third highest sales volume in Montgomery County. In 1985, in addition to his successful sales associate status, Charlie assumed the reigns of leadership. He has brought to the company a lifetime of experience and zeal not only for the business, but also for the lives of those with whom he and Llewellyn sales associates come in contact.
