bio:
After succumbing to the curse of the Yampa Valley, I moved to Steamboat Springs in 1991 from South Bend, Indiana bringing the Prudential name to the market place. Being a Midwestern/Chicago boy, Steamboat offered our family the non pretentious environment that the Vail or Aspen markets could not deliver. The only mistake I truly made in moving our family to the area was not doing it 10 years sooner. My daughter Keri, remains in the Chicago area with her husband Doug and my precious granddaughter Sheila. As the fruit does not fall too far from the tree, Keri enjoys a career in real estate with Prudential Preferred Properties in Lake Forest, Illinois. My son, Coleman, followed his parents to Steamboat immediately after graduation. In 1995, Coleman and I founded the original Colorado Group Realty in a 10 X 12 office above the then lst National Bank of Steamboat. Things have certainly changed! My real estate career began in 1966, having been mentored by some of the sagest business partners one could ever hope to have. My passion has always been development, design and downtowns. A long time advocate of making the urban core of the community an exciting and vibrant place to be, I brought that vision to Steamboat and continue to preach the gospel of improving the doorstep of our community first. Recent projects that I have brought to our community include Alpen Glow, Howelsen Place and soon, River Walk. As a result of my activities downtown, I was named the Steamboat Pilot "Newsmaker of The Year" in 2005. The dream continues. One of the intriguing things about our community is that we are still in the embryo stage of developing the cultural and advocacy opportunities in Steamboat Springs. As a full time resident, you can still make a difference in how our community will grow and how we will nurture the things that are important, namely family and environment. If you are considering Steamboat as a home, don't wish that you would have made the move 10 years earlier. |
